Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!

You never know what you'll run into in the Theater District over the summer, and this July is no different. Two performances I'm particularly excited about are happening soon, so my inner geek just had to share!

I'm a big fan of unleashing my inner child, and thanks to the Houston Symphony and Gexa Energy Broadway at the Hobby Center, I'm going to do so. First off, on July 21, I'm reliving that journey down the Yellow Brick Road as the Houston Symphony presents the film The Wizard of Oz with the orchestra performing the entire soundtrack live! Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Scarecrow were amongst my favorite characters growing up, so getting to see the movie with the power of a full orchestra has been on my list since hearing about it.

And while you might not get to see the story of Elphaba (you know - that other musical about Oz) until next summer, THIS summer, Gexa Energy Broadway at the Hobby Center is bringing the beloved story of Simba to the stage, as The Lion King musical starts it 5-week run. It was awarded the 1998 Tony Award for Best Musical, and continues to be a family favorite long after its broadway premiere in 1997.

Here's all the info you need to plan and get your tickets:

So who's going to be there with me?
