Downtown is fortunate to have many organizations that contribute to the excitement of the city’s center. In order to make a greater impact, the Downtown District, Houston Downtown Alliance and City of Houston Convention & Entertainment Facilities Department have joined expertise and resources to create a one-stop-shop for information on what to do and where to go in downtown Houston.
This new downtown webportal, downtownhouston.org, consolidates four websites-- houstondowntown.com (hosted by Downtown District), downtownhouston.org (the old version hosted by Houston Downtown Alliance), houstontheaterdistrict.org (also hosted by Houston Downtown Alliance) and Theater and park information found on the City of Houston's website (content provided by Convention & Entertainment Facilities Dept.).
It did not make sense to have multiple sites promoting what to do and where to go downtown. So we pooled efforts and monies and now have a site that will better serve YOU-- the people that use downtown, whether you are a resident, someone that works downtown or you come downtown every once in a while for events or a special occasion.
The Downtown District's blog, Plugged In, will be a source of information about what is going on downtown in regards to development, planning, economic development, operations and marketing. When we have info on the Dynamo soccer stadium, we will share, or construction updates on Market Square Park, or the signing of a new resturant lease.
We hope this site and our blog will be helpful to you. Please take some time, look around and let us know what you think.
