Under the Red Stacks marks the first toe into the proverbial blogosphere waters for the George R. Brown Convention Center.
From this space, you will, hopefully, become more attuned to issues and developments surrounding Houston’s downtown convention center, creating a greater level of understanding and fostering discussion..
So, why the moniker Under the Red Stacks? Our red ventilation stacks – they’re not smokestacks – are the most commonly identifiable feature on a building that is among the most recognizable in Houston. What’s more, they stand as a beacon for the convention district neighborhood. And that’s appropriate, too, because this blog will focus on not just the GRB but also what’s going on at the eastern edge of downtown.
As member of the communications team for the George R. Brown and its parent governing body, the City of Houston Convention & Entertainment Facilities Department, for 15 years, I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years and am semi-privvy to future plans. It has been fun to watch recent developments come to fruition. I’ll try to keep you in loop as we move forward. If I am out of pocket, another member of our communications group will blog in this space as necessary.
I hope you are looking forward to the forthcoming dialogue as much as I am.
