    Summer is almost here and that means the 2011-2012 Theater District season is about to close. If you're one of the die-hard theater lovers like me, you're probably pretty bummed that for the most part, you won't get your fix of ballets, operas, plays and symphonies until September (insert sad face here).

    If you haven’t been to the Alley Theatre in a while, you definitely want to get in while you can still catch Red, their latest production based on abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko. Set in the late-1950s, Red depicts Rothko just as he’d gotten a commission to paint the Seagram Murals for the newly-built Four Seasons restaurant in Manhattan.

    It was a perfect night fit for art lovers and ultimate sweet tooths with Houston Young People for the Arts and their 5th Annual Culinary Arts evening at the historic Hogg Palace in Houston's Theater District.  Strip House's 7 layer cake of chocolate decadence, *17 at Alden Hotel's fried-while-you-wait doughnuts accompanied with an array of dipping sauces, Hearsay's amazing bread pudding that had people clamoring for the more burnt bits for its amazing texture and Sprinkles' mini cupcakes that are perfect-sized bites for those that always hear "calories, calories" chiming in ...
