Da Camera of Houston’s long-standing A Little Day Music series of free lunchtime concerts concludes in the Grand Foyer of the Wortham Theater Center, Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at noon. This month’s free program is a chamber music concert featuring clarinetist Richie Hawley and pianist Timothy Hester. The media sponsor is Houston Public Radio – KUHF News 88.7 and Classical 91.7.
Professor of Clarinet at the Shepherd School of Music, Richie Hawley is a versatile and critically acclaimed artist who ranks among the most distinguished clarinetists of his generation. As Principal Clarinet of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, he has impressed audiences around the world with a wide-ranging talent that blends virtuosity and the velvety, sonorous tone that has become his trademark. The Cincinnati Enquirer has praised him for the “seamless flowing tone so many clarinetists long for and few can achieve.”
The A Little Day Music series features live music and drawings for tickets to Da Camera’s upcoming events. A Little Day Music concerts fulfill an important aspect of Da Camera’s mission to develop the audience for chamber music and jazz by making it accessible to everyone and part of everyday life.
A Little Day Music is presented on the first Wednesday of every month from October through May, excluding January.
A Little Day Music concerts are free of charge and Da Camera encourages concertgoers to bring and enjoy their lunches while listening to the music.
