For 40 years, The Council’s Speaker Series has raised funds for those in our community affected by addiction, and has broken down the shame and stigma behind addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders that prevent people from seeking recovery. As The Council’s premier fundraising event, our Speaker Series has gained national recognition and is among the largest philanthropic gatherings in Houston every year.

At this year’s 2024 Fall Luncheon we will welcome Mike Sorrentino. Mike first gained fame in 2009 on MTV’s hit reality series “Jersey Shore,” which followed him and his castmates for six seasons until 2012. Post-“Jersey Shore,” he appeared on shows like “Dancing with the Stars” and “Marriage Boot Camp,” and partnered with brands like GNC and Reebok. In 2018, he returned to television in “Jersey Shore Family Vacation,” showcasing his sobriety and positive outlook. The rebooted show, now in its sixth season, continues to break records and win awards.

Recently, Sorrentino published his autobiography, Reality Check: Making the Best of The Situation, detailing his journey through addiction, loss, and redemption. Almost eight years sober, Mike and his wife, Lauren, advocate for recovery and hope. They have three children, Romeo, Mia, and Luna.
