Nestled along Buffalo Bayou near Wortham Theater Center, Sesquicentennial Park celebrates the 150th anniversaries of Houston and Texas.
Spanning 10.4 acres, the park’s multi-level design includes The Common, a gently sloping lawn ideal for events, and the Allen H. Carruth Promenade, shaded by cypress trees with views of the bayou. Its iconic feature, the "Seven Wonders," consists of seven 70-foot-tall stainless-steel pillars etched with children’s drawings and dedicated to Houston's rich history in agriculture, energy, medicine, and more.
Other highlights include the Garden Club of Houston Garden with native plantings and natural water features, and the Josephine B. and Anthony Charles Muller Overlook, offering stunning skyline views. Visitors can also explore the George Bush Monument, a tribute to the 41st U.S. president, featuring a bronze sculpture and bas-reliefs of his life.
