This mural is here to open up conversations on our shared past and a legacy that still impacts us today. It provides a space for Americans to reach out beyond themselves and build a better inclusive future.
It comes in support of the efforts of the @unesco and the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 8.7, 10, and 16.
The mural depicts American abolitionist Harriet Tubman holding a cotton branch in her right hand, with a closed fist. She represents the fight for freedom as she is perhaps the most well-known of all the Underground Railroad's "conductors”.
