Artist: Loc Huynh

This work depicts the artist’s family sharing lunch in the home where he grew up. The composition draws from The Potato Eaters by Vincent van Gogh, echoing its focus on an ordinary family gathered over a modest meal, while reflecting the quiet dignity of everyday life and the resilience of Vietnamese American culture through food, memory, and connection.

About the Artist

Loc Huynh (b. 1992, Austin, TX) creates figurative paintings rooted in Pop imagery and mass culture, exploring Vietnamese–Texan identity and diasporic experience. Combining airbrush techniques with painterly gestures, his work balances mechanical precision with warmth and humor through layered textures and collage.

Huynh earned a BFA from Texas State University and an MFA from the University of North Texas. He has held solo exhibitions at Museum of the Southwest and Martha’s Contemporary, among others, and exhibited internationally, including at Zona Maco and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He has completed residencies at Vermont Studio Center and Lawndale. He lives and works in Houston.
