Arthouse Houston presents an evening of public engagement, film exhibitions, and live performances at THE MAJESTIC METRO, downtown Houston’s premier special events venue. Originally the 1926 Ritz Theatre, this is a special night to experience a film showing in the grandeur of movie palace architecture.

Join us for Puttin’ on the RITZ, featuring two shows. WHITE CHRISTMAS with live songs from the upcoming TUTS performance and PURPLE RAIN featuring a dance party and contest, plus an interview with “Prince” himself.

WHITE CHRISTMAS Synopsis: Having left the Army following W.W.II, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis team up to become a top song-and-dance act. Davis plays matchmaker, introducing Wallace to a pair of beautiful sisters (Betty and Judy) who also have a song-and-dance act. When Betty and Judy travel to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show, Wallace and Davis follow, only to find their former commander, General Waverly, as the lodge owner. A series of romantic mix-ups ensues as the performers try to help the General.

PURPLE RAIN Synopsis: A victim of his own anger, the Kid (Prince) is a Minneapolis musician on the rise with his band, the Revolution, escaping a tumultuous home life through music. While trying to avoid his truculent father's (Clarence Williams III) mistakes, the Kid navigates the club scene and a rocky relationship with a captivating singer, Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero). But another musician, Morris (Morris Day), looks to steal the Kid's spotlight -- and his girl.
