Participate in African Arts: The Re-Education Project workshops by Dance Afrikana, where you can create tie-dye designs, collages, beaded jewelry, and masks. Enjoya live DJ, adding rhythm and energy to the evening. At 7 PM, experience Celebrating Black History: From Ancient Africa to Today, a captivating showcase of music, dance, and poetry that highlights Black history from ancient Africa to modern times. Featuring original poetry by Houston Poet Laureates Deborah DEEP Mouton and Emanuelee “Outspoken” Bean, the performance journeys through the contributions of historical figures like Queen Nefertiti, Duke Ellington, and Ketanji Brown Jackson, illustrating the vital role African Americans have played in shaping American history. This family-friendly event is a vibrant celebration of heritage, unity, and expression that you won’t want to miss!
