Design the Ride: Skatepark Design Workshop

Get ready for an action-packed morning with the National Organization of Minority Architects, Houston, and Architecture Center Houston, where design and skateboarding collide. Students ages 7–12 will design and build their own community skateparks.

Inspired by the exhibition *The Kinetics of Urban Movement: Skateboarding + Architecture*, participants will sketch, sculpt, and present original skatepark concepts while learning how architecture, design, and skateboarding come together to shape public spaces. Students will also hear from skatepark designers Shane Yee, Rodrigo Gallardo, and Bobby King of Skate ECOSYSTEMS about their experiences designing and riding skateparks.

This interactive workshop encourages creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving while introducing young participants to architecture and design through the lens of skateboarding.
