FRESH AT PHOENICIA will be a feast for the eyes featuring exciting food-centric paintings, sculptures and installation . Food is a universal language that promotes cross-cultural connections and nourishes our souls. Some of Gelman's Fresh Portraits- imaginative improvisations on realistic images - will also be on display. FRESH AT PHOENICIA will encourage personal reflection and will be an entire smorgasbord for the senses. Mixed Media Artist, Diane Gelman finds inspiration everywhere, in shadows, from gorgeous arrays of food, colorful wild gardens, and interesting people. Gelman start with an idea and lets the piece evolve organically from inspiration to full-blown creation with layer upon layer of textures, designs, and fantasy. She uses additive and reductive processes,, removing or embellishing images, and often carving into them, to find the real, hidden story underneath each fully integrated, harmonious artwork she creates.
