Join us for HGO’s second annual Family Day, featuring a 90-minute, relaxed-environment performance of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, directed by acclaimed mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke and performed entirely in English.
This timeless adaptation of the Brothers Grimm tale—full of whimsical, sophisticated melodies, derived from German nursery songs—will captivate audiences of all ages. They’ll be held spellbound as they join Hansel and Gretel on their dangerous journey to the realm where the Witch reigns from her house of cake, topped with a shining red cherry.
Young guests will not only be enchanted by the opera’s young protagonists as they scheme to escape the Witch—they’ll also love the kid-friendly lobby activities before the show and during intermission!
