The Houston Public Library invites you to experience nearly a century of civil rights resilience in an exhibit chronicling the League of United Latin American Citizens’ (LULAC) pursuit of justice. Since 1929, LULAC has dismantled systemic barriers through landmark victories. Explore the 1954 Hernandez v. Texas U.S. Supreme Court triumph, President Kennedy’s 1963 Houston visit, and the 1957 "Little School of the 400"—championed by LULAC National President Felix Tijerina and inspired by 17-year-old high school student Isabel Verver in Ganado, Texas. Spanning mid-century milestones to ongoing fights for immigration reform, we honor 98 years of advocacy under the motto, "All for One and One for All."
This exhibit was organized by LEAP (Latino Educational Archival Programs).
