Opening Reception: The Little School of the 400 and LULAC History Exhibitions

Join us for an opening reception celebrating two complementary exhibitions exploring Mexican American history, education, and civil rights in Texas.

The Little School of the 400 tells the story of the groundbreaking preschool program that prepared Spanish-speaking children for school and helped shape the future of bilingual education in Texas. A companion LULAC History exhibition places that story within the broader history of LULAC’s nearly century-long pursuit of civil rights, from Hernandez v. Texas and President Kennedy’s 1963 Houston visit to ongoing advocacy today.

The reception will include a brief opening program, followed by time to explore both exhibitions. Representatives from the Houston History Research Center will also be available to share information about related collections and resources.

The Little School of the 400 is organized by C60 Inc. The LULAC History exhibition is organized by LEAP (Latino Educational Archival Programs).
