Black Arts Movement Houston proudly presents Urban Souls Dance Company in its annual Black History Month dance concert, Truth Be Told, taking place Thursday, February 26, and Friday, February 27, 2026, at 7:30 PM at The Hobby Center’s Zilkha Hall. Truth Be Told is a powerful evening of dance that honors the stories, ancestors, and cultural legacies that shape the Black experience. The Thursday, February 26, 2026 performance will include a Lifetime Achievement Honor for Melanie Lawson, celebrating her enduring impact on Houston’s cultural and civic life. Friday, February 27, 2026 will serve as Black Organization Night, honoring Black-led organizations and community partners whose work continues to sustain, protect, and uplift Black life in Houston.
