Baking Spirits Bright: Downtown's Best Holiday Cookies

by Jordan Cutler    December 6, 2021

We all know how much Santa loves his cookies and milk (I mean, can you blame him?!). Before the sleigh bells ring and he comes sliding down your chimney, make sure you have only the BEST for ‘Ol St. Nick. Here’s a quick list of Downtown’s best cookies to

📍 Michael’s Cookie Jar | 711 Louisiana (Tunnel Level) | Mon-Fri 10AM-4PM

Oh, what a beautiful sight, we’ll be eating cookies tonight! Indulge in delicious holiday cookies from the bakery located in the Pennzoil Place Tunnel. Brighten your day with fresh, soft-baked cookie classics like the Texas-sized cookie, Asteroid, that’s made with chocolate chunks and pecans. Run to the bakery and enjoy new cookie specials each week or pick up Christmas treats like holiday cookie boxes, a gingerbread house kit, and shippable “cookiegrams” to send to your loved ones!

📍 Guard & Grace | 500 Dallas | Lunch, Mon-Fri 11AM-2PM

If cookies were a reindeer, they would most certainly be the star – Rudolph!  After a delicious lunch, stay and enjoy Troy’s Triple Chocolate Cookies. The combination of milk, white and dark chocolate topped with salt flakes is the perfect balance of sweet and salty goodness. These cookies are only available during lunch hours, so be sure to grab a dozen of the melt-in-your-mouth cookies to take home and enjoy.

📍 Common Bond Brasserie & Bakery | 800 Capitol | Mon-Fri 7AM-9PM

You may have heard about the highly anticipated Brasserie recently opening in the Bank of America Tower. What you might not have known, is that Common Bond also boasts a walk-up, grab-and-go bakery with an array of delectable goodies. From walnut chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal cream pies, to brown butter triple chocolate cookies and vegan gingersnaps, you can’t go wrong no matter which one (or three) you choose! And with special Saturday hours for December, there’s even more time to enjoy these tasty treats.

  📍 Phoenicia Specialty Foods | 1001 Austin

Phoenicia + holiday cookies = a batch…sorry match 😉 made in heaven. The word of the season is YUM! Enjoy winter and Christmas-themed cookies to pick up as you snag other holiday snacks and treats. For some bonus points from the jolly man in the red suit, swap out traditional milk for a bottle of mouthwatering eggnog straight from the mecca of grocery stores.

  📍 Mademoiselle Louise Bakery | 800 Capitol | Wed-Sun 8AM-4PM

While you might not find cookies, we promise you (or Santa) won’t be disappointed. Located on the first floor of SoDo on Main (formerly Skyhouse North), Mademoiselle Louise will feel as though you’ve been transported to a French bakery on the Seine. From authentic croissants to an array of pastries & pies, be prepared for anything you get to taste just as good (if not better) than they look!
