Dine Downtown: Adair Downtown

by Victoria Reid    June 11, 2020

Wander down the steps of Wells Fargo Plaza and you’ll find yourself transported into a classic American bistro. As the latest addition to the lineup of Adair Concepts [the minds behind Adair Kitchen, Eloise Nichols and Bebidas, to name a few], Adair Downtown offers a chic, open, sun-lit space for the Houston-based restaurateurs to serve up their well-known dishes.

At the Downtown locale, diners will find the restaurant to be a modern mix of hand-cut subway tiles, gray quartz countertops, brass bistro tables and fun houndstooth-patterned marble floors. The menu includes recognizable favorites from the brands other concepts like lemon artichoke soup and kale-quinoa bowls. You can also expect to see new dishes such as chicken paillard, avocado chorizo toast and beef tenderloin crostini. The menu isn’t the only thing setting the Downtown location apart, in fact, you’ll find there are quite a few details that are unique to this spot.

Divided into four zones, Adair Downtown truly has a little something for everyone. Needing coffee and breakfast on the go? Check out the coffee bar that’s loaded with pastries, yogurts and juices. Looking for a sit-down meal away from the office? Breakfast, lunch and late-afternoon snacks [more on this later] can all be devoured in the dining room.

Beyond your food and drink needs, the eatery also has a convenient grab-and-go market which, in addition to hot and cold food, sells cards, gifts and fresh flowers. Just call it a one-stop shop for the weekday Downtowner!

It’s accessible from the tunnel level, however, one key detail sets it apart from other eateries located in the underground system: post-work cocktail hour! Grab your co-workers and settle down on the outdoor patio for craft cocktails and bar bites. From crispy calamari and house meatballs to Bayou City margaritas and every shade of wine you could want, this beautiful bistro is the perfect setup for those who work, live and play Downtown.

While you can’t go wrong with any item on the menu, we suggest going for the Thai chopped salad or the snapper tacos...a side of sweet potato fries is always a good idea. And if you can’t stay, then definitely come back for happy hour!
