New Shade Structures Coming to Trebly Park
Noticed our construction activity at Trebly Park recently?
Here's what we're doing: new shade structures and large umbrellas are being installed to make the park an even more comfortable place to gather, play and relax.

Why It Matters
Houston's summers are no joke, and without mature trees, some areas of Trebly Park become sun-drenched hotspots during daylight hours.
Shaded areas can feel up to 20 degrees cooler, making them essential for an enjoyable outdoor experience year-round.
After conducting an analysis of these park areas, we're installing new shade structures and umbrellas that will transform the park-going experience.

What's Happening
Reflecting existing patterns found in the park, a custom-designed trellis shade structure is being installed to cast cool shadows over the playground and other previously sun-soaked areas. A smaller trellis structure will also be added to the adjacent dog park for more shade.
Additionally, shade umbrellas will be installed next to Tout Suite and in the dog park to keep cafe visitors and four-legged friends cool, too.
By the Numbers:
- 2,600+ square feet of new shade coverage
- 75-day construction timeline carefully planned to minimize disruption
- Completion targeted for late spring 2025—just in time for summer!

Looking Ahead
Beyond this shade project, Trebly Park will continue to evolve with future enhancements, including new public art later this year.
These thoughtful investments are part of Downtown Houston's broader commitment to creating public spaces that are beautiful, comfortable and resilient for years to come.
We invite you to return this summer to experience a cooler, more inviting Trebly Park!
