Completed in 2026, the Main Street Promenade is a people-friendly corridor that stretches from Rusk Street to Allen's Landing, providing pedestrian plazas, shaded walkways, outdoor dining and dynamic public spaces.
The project involved closing vehicular lanes on 13 blocks, building at-grade pedestrian space, planting 98 trees, installing 4 innovative shade structures, and redesigning landscaping to include more native plantings and other species that will help enliven the corridor while also absorbing heat, expanding porous surfaces for stormwater runoff, and lowering ambient temperatures by as much as 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
